Our philosophy represents our desire to create, share and connect with other people from all walks of life. We believe in dance as being the most primal form of human expression, as the body itself is the medium to communicate and express. Dance is the embodiment of physical movement, mental exploration, and spiritual essence. It is an important element of non-verbal communication, it can help us discover and connect to our inner self and can free from social and emotional inhibitions. Dance threads ideas, sensations, and thoughts through movements and allows to tap into the natural energy that moves the body. Through our philosophy and experiences, we want to inspire, empower and engage our students to get in touch with their creative, physical and intellectual self in order to reach their fullest potential.
KINEMATIK choreographed for and performed at the 125th Anniversary of University Settlement located in the Lower East Side. As a company we worked with all members of the community including: teenagers, senior citizens, and minority groups. KINEMATIK taught classes, provided choreography and facilitated a flash mob for over 300 people. The event was a major success, and KINEMATIK was proud to be a part of the Anniversary of such a substantial institution in the community.
KINEMATIK will be teaching a workshop for the students from MS 51 under the direction of Julie Klein that aims to provide a well-rounded technical and vernacular dance experience for aspiring professional students. This workshop will be geared for students who are planning to audition for performing arts High Schools and prepare them for their upcoming final year in middle school. The goal of the KINEMATIK Dance Theater Summer Workshop is to develop versatile dancers who can be diligent and confident in mainstream, traditional and underground urban forms of dance.
